जब लगि नाता जग तणो, तब लग भक्ति न होय। नाता तोड़े हरि भजे, भक्त कहावे सोय॥

As long as there is attachment to the world, devotion cannot happen. One who breaks attachment and worships God — that one is called a devotee.
