उमा काल मर जाई जहाँ जाई। तहाँ बिपत्ति बहु आई॥
पुनि उठि कपि बन बागा। तोड़ेउ उपारेउ सब नागा॥
अर्थ:When death comes, calamity follows everywhere. Then Hanuman rose and began to destroy the garden — he broke and uprooted trees in every direction.
सुनि रावन पठए निसाचर। कपि संग भए बहु बाहर॥
सब मारेसि बल कपि भारी। गयउ अक्ष कुमार दल मारी॥
अर्थ:Hearing the commotion, Ravana sent his demons out; many came to fight with the monkey. Hanuman slew them all with his mighty strength, and then killed Akshay Kumar and his entire force.
तब इंद्रजीत अस्त्र ब्रह्म चला। बँधि कपि गयउ दल सहित बला॥
जासु नाम प्रभु ताहि न बाँधे। सो प्रभु बाँधत काहि सिधाँधे॥
अर्थ:Then Indrajit released the Brahmastra, and the monkey was bound. Hanuman allowed himself to be captured, knowing the Lord whose Name binds nothing can never truly be bound.
कपि बंधन सुनि निसिचर धाए। कौतुक लागि सभाँ लै आए॥
दसमुख सभा दीख कपि जाई। कहि न जाइ कछु अति प्रभुताई॥
अर्थ:Hearing that the monkey was bound, demons rushed in and dragged him to the court for sport. Hanuman entered the assembly of the ten-headed Ravana — the splendour there was beyond all description.
उठि मेघनाद बोलेउ बचन। सुनु कपि राम दूत काय नाचन॥
कह हनुमान सुनु रावन रे। राम दूत दैत्य काल जरे॥
अर्थ:Meghnada (Indrajit) rose and spoke: "Listen, monkey — a messenger of Ram dances at your death." Hanuman replied boldly: "Listen, O Ravana — the messenger of Ram is the very death-fire of demons."
हनुमान बोल्यो राम चरित। सुनहु दसानन आज॥
तजहु मान मद लोभ सब। फिरि आए रघुराज॥
अर्थ:Hanuman spoke Ram's words plainly: "Listen, O ten-faced one — today I tell you: renounce pride, arrogance, and greed. Return Sita and go back to Ram."
सुनत रावन क्रोध उपजाई। खल मरन चहत दुखदाई॥
बोला पूँछ जराहु एही। जेहि अपनेपन माने तेही॥
अर्थ:Hearing this, Ravana burned with fury; the wicked one was determined to cause suffering. He commanded: "Set this monkey's tail on fire — that which he holds dearest, let it be burned."
निसिचर पूँछ जराई सोई। तेहि लागि लंका दहन होई॥
सो पावक कपि पूँछ जरावा। हनुमंत नभ पंथ सिधावा॥
अर्थ:The demons set his tail ablaze — and by that very fire Lanka was destined to burn. With his tail alight, Hanuman set off through the sky.
देखत भइउ ब्योम बिसाला। जरत लंक रचि रचि मसाला॥
हरषि दीन्ह अग्नि ततकाला। जरी लंका सुमिरि कृपाला॥
अर्थ:The whole sky blazed as Lanka burned, fire consuming its towers and treasures. With joy Hanuman applied the flame everywhere, remembering the Compassionate Lord as Lanka burned.
जारा निसिचर कर निवासु। जहाँ जहाँ रहे दनुज॥
कौतुकी राम सेवक। प्रताप जाके सब गुन॥
अर्थ:He burned the homes of all the demons, wherever they dwelt. Such is the playful power of Ram's servant, whose every quality is rooted in the glory of the Lord.
जारि सकल पुर खाई। देखि बिभीषन जगत जाई॥
रामपद उर धरि दृढ़ाई। विकट जनु अंगार उड़ाई॥
अर्थ:After burning the whole city, Hanuman paused when he saw Vibhishan's house — recognising Ram's devotee, he kept it untouched, holding Ram's feet firmly in his heart, like an ember that spares what is holy.
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं। जलत न राम नाम जल पाहीं॥
सीता के रखवारी किए। नाम राम के भए हिए॥
अर्थ:He placed the Lord's ring in his mouth — nothing burns one who carries Ram's name, which is itself cooling water. He reassured Sita and kept Ram's name in his heart.
हनुमान मन हर्षित भयउ। माँगेउ बिदा सीताय॥
सुनि राम नाम जोरि कर। लंघेउ महासमुद्र॥
अर्थ:Hanuman's mind was filled with joy; he took leave of Sita. With Ram's name on his lips and his hands folded, he leaped back across the great ocean.
लंका जारि कपि उड़ि चला। बल प्रताप रघुपति उजला॥
देखि सीताहि कपि हर्षाना। राम नाम उर करि बखाना॥
अर्थ:Having burned Lanka, the monkey flew away, his glory shining bright with the power of Shri Ram. Having seen Sita, Hanuman's heart rejoiced; he praised Ram's name in his heart as he soared through the sky.
