About BhaktiMala

BhaktiMala (भक्तिमाला) is a Hindu devotional platform — a daily Panchang, a Hindu calendar, and a library of Aarti, Chalisa, Bhajan, Mantra, Vrat Katha and Puja Vidhi, in Hindi and English. It is available on the web at bhaktimala.app and as a free Android app.

How our Panchang is calculated

Our Panchang is computed, not copied. Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, sunrise and sunset, Rahu Kaal, Ekadashi and festival dates are all derived from astronomical calculation for the date and location you are viewing — using the Drik (observed) system with the Lahiri ayanamsa, the convention followed by most Indian panchangs.

Because the results are location-specific, timings on a city page are genuinely local: sunrise in Toronto and sunrise in Varanasi produce different tithi windows and a different Rahu Kaal on the same calendar day. Both the Amanta and Purnimanta month systems are supported, since the correct month name for the same day differs by region.

Our editorial approach

• Devotional texts are published in Devanagari with the traditional wording preserved; we do not paraphrase scripture.
• Festival and vrat explanations note where regional practice differs rather than presenting one tradition as the only one.
• Panchang and muhurat timings are calculated values, offered as a reference for personal observance — not as a substitute for a family priest or astrologer.
• Corrections are welcome. If you spot an error in a text or a date, please write to us.
