प्रतिबोधविदितं मतममृतत्वं हि विन्दते।

Translation
It is truly known when it is known through every awakening of awareness; by this knowledge one attains immortality.
भावार्थ
जो प्रत्येक अनुभव के पीछे विद्यमान चेतना को पहचान लेता है, वही अमरता को प्राप्त करता है। जिस शक्ति से आँख देखती है और मन सोचता है, उसी को जान लेना सच्चा ज्ञान है।
केन उपनिषद् प्रश्न करता है — यह मन किसकी प्रेरणा से चलता है? उत्तर है — उस चेतन तत्व से जो इंद्रियों के भी पीछे है। स्वयं की उस मूल चेतना को पहचानना ही जीवन का परम लक्ष्य है।
Meaning and context
The Kena Upanishad asks what it is that makes the mind think and the eye see. Its answer is that the ultimate reality cannot be grasped as an object — it is the awareness behind every act of knowing. When one recognises that awareness in every experience, one has truly understood, and that understanding is freedom from death. Turning inward to know this witnessing Self is the heart of self-knowledge.
